Second round of consultation on Grid West project commences

EirGrid has announced the commencement of the second round of public consultation on the Grid West project and has also invited the public to attend an open day in their area. The two Mayo open days take place on Tuesday August 28 at Kiltane GAA Club, Bangor Erris, from 1pm to 8pm, and on Tuesday September 4 at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, from 1pm to 8pm.

It is Tiernan country too, with relatives all over, from Cong to Kilmaine and to Louisburgh, the roots go deep here. Tommy comes from a long line of Mayo teachers, farmers, and priests. One of his forebears set up the first school in the county and for that Tommy would like to apologise. He has always felt especially at home here and considers it a homecoming of the ancestral sort.

New body to market golf in the west of Ireland to be launched

The Ireland West Golf Clubs Association will be launched at 8pm on Wednesday, April 11 at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, Co. Mayo. At its first public meeting the chairman of the new body, Paul O’Neill, will outline the objectives of the new association and explain the strategy that he believes must be put in place to encourage the maximum number of golfing tourists to the Connacht region.
